Childhood obesity is now a global problem, and is no longer an issue that affects just the USA but also the whole planet. There is no country that does not face the severe menace of childhood obesity.

Childhood obesity is likely to cost us our future if we bury our heads in the sand. Obesity is a state of being critically overweight to such a degree that it affects the child’s health. The first difficulties in childhood obesity are emotional and psychological. These lead to sadness, loneliness and nervousness, and these children are more likely to engage in higher risk behaviours such as smoking and alcohol consumption, which makes the problem much worse.

This childhood obesity also leads to life-threatening conditions such as heart disease,

high blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnoea, liver disease, early puberty, eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia, asthma and shins infections, and worst of all, cancer. Obese children grow up to be obese adults. Also of concern is the mortality rate, which is on the rise for childhood obesity and adolescent obesity.

Obese children suffer terribly from teasing, harassment, and discrimination, which leads to very low self-esteem and depression. Children who are obese have carotid arteries which have prematurely aged 30 years, as well as abnormal levels of cholesterol.

Eating in high street fast food outlets such as McDonald’s is one of the main causes of obesity in childhood. The fast food industries are totally at fault here, but so are parents. They allow their children to make the choices for eating when parents and family should be sitting down to a family meal with no TV, music or radios blasting in the background. Try to remember this; the fast food industries spend $50 billion each year on advertising AIMED AT CHILDREN. See how many websites these fast food chains have and then remember that 100 million children view these websites each month. Also, look at McDonald’s and other fast food chains. They give out toys. Who for? CHILDREN.

Now consider calorie-rich drinks. It is a fact that the consumption by children of sugar-laden soft drinks is a factor in childhood obesity. It is my understanding that in all the fast food chains, there are about 3000 types of drink and only.05% has any nutritional value. It is very difficult to refuse when your children ask you to take them to McDonald’s or another fast food chain, but it should only be a treat once in a blue moon. Generally, you should not allow them to go anywhere near one of these fast food outlets. Children these days are hit by 40,000 McDonald’s adverts per year on average. It is very difficult to imagine that a company such as McDonald’s cares anything about your child’s health. They just want your money and screw you and your children’s health.

Childhood obesity

It is also worth noting that there is usually a rise in obesity when there are fast food outlets next to a school. Children from these schools are more overweight and obese than those from schools that are nowhere near these fast food outlets and that run exercise classes.

A major problem in addition to the fast food chains is the physical inactivity of children. The majority of children do not take part in sport or physical exercise. No wonder countries are not producing world class players in their national teams and are struggling to attract the very young to take up sports and physical exercise. The children are now inactive due to spending far too many hours doing stationary activities such as using computers, playing video games and watching TV. It has now been proven beyond any shadow of a doubt that reducing the hours children are allowed to watch TV, use their computers or play video games also reduces their calorie intake.

When childhood obesity is rampant in a particular school it is because the teachers are not motivating the children to become active and play ball games or take exercise such as biking or running. There should be a class of teaching solely aimed at educating children on the dangers of obesity, alcohol consumption, drugs and smoking. At home, the food choices for eating are the responsibility of the parents and not the children. Certainly let them speak, but do explain to them the risks and hazards of eating particular meals and not taking any exercise to help burn off the calories.

I shall continue to write on these factors affecting childhood obesity. There is a lot to be done and it needs to be done now, not tomorrow. Let’s get started today.

Wishing you all a healthy lifestyle, and speak soon.

Obesity in America

There is an alarming rise in Obesity in America , both in adults and children, and it is growing fastest in Alabama, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. Obesity is now seriously threatening Americans’ futures. In terms of childhood obesity, more than one-third of children aged between 10 to 17 years are obese. It is now been established that even younger children are becoming obese, and we now know what is causing the rise in both child and adult obesity.

You do not need to be a doctor or scientist to know the reasons why. For a start, we, as parents, are failing our children by allowing them to sit in front of the television all day and night or in front of the computer. We are not getting them or ourselves involved in participating in sports, swimming or biking.

We throw money at them to eat in high street fast [FAT] food restaurants which, as my experience shows, is total fat food and should be eaten no more than once per month, and in all honesty should never be eaten. It should be a treat, but for the majority of parents it is an easier, softer way. There are few families who sit down together to eat a proper meal or go hiking, or do physical exercise together.

Obesity in America

The current population of youngsters is the fattest population ever in the history of the world, not just in the America. Parents are turning a blind eye to this as they themselves are obese. The time for politeness is well past. Blame should be apportioned as follows:

[1] To the governments of any of the countries suffering from obesity since they have failed those who elected them to power. They do not put funding into education of parents;
[2] To schools that serve bad food. Although the situation has improved, a lot more needs to be done;
[3] To schools for failing to provide education for children in how addictive food, alcohol and drugs can be. The three items can be linked together;
[4] To parents, who are not taking their parental duties seriously. Why bring children into the world if you not going to look after them;
[5] To manufacturers of technological devices. While television, the computer, the X-box and all these games are wonderful and are there to be enjoyed, they should only be used as a treat. The number of deaths from blood clotting is on the rise. The obesity rate has just gone ballistic.

What is to be done to help obese people to get a healthier life style and to become role models for their children? It is no wonder that the national football teams around the world are suffering from a lack of brilliant players. It is because schools have sold off their sports fields, and insurance companies are equally to be blamed for their high premiums. It is no small wonder that investigations are now taking place to discover the links between obesity and cancer. It should also be noted that since the rise in the number of fast food outlets, there has also been a rise in obesity and cancer.

We have to promote change in the individual as well as the family. While I appreciate that some areas are too dangerous to allow children to play in, there has to be a gathering of like-minded people who will help in these areas to secure a safe environment for obese people to get together, exercise, swim and arrange safe trips to woods and adventures. It has to be fun. There have to be initiatives to help people to find affordable, healthy foods, safe places for children to play, exercise, swim and bike.

This needs to start immediately, not next week, next month, next year – NOW, cure Obesity in America .

When obesity in childhood, or in adult Obesity strikes, there is a lot of work to be done for preventing Obesity becoming a dangerous problem for the individual. The dangers of Obesity are well known, high blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea, liver disease, early puberty, eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia, asthma and shins infections and life threatening conditions such as heart disease, worst of all cancer. Obese children sadly grow up to be obese adults. What’s more of a concern is the mortality rate which is on the increase for childhood obesity and adolescence obesity.

So what is to be done to help the obese people to lose weight? There is many diet and diet plans available on the market both in supermarket shops, chemist and on line. I have always said that it is useless spending your hard earned money if you not going to exercise as well. Don’t bother unless you’re prepared to exercise and have knowledge of how to exercise. Otherwise you’re throwing your money away. They two items go hand in hand. The third and most important item is your mind set. Again you have to un-train your mind to always wanting food and sitting down in front of the Television or computer or the game consul and not doing anything else but eat and become a couch potato. Become positive and set in your mind the good steps your going to take to become healthier and what exercise plan your going to follow.

Childhood Obesity

Even if you’re crippled with joint pain and in a wheelchair you can still exercise. We all are aware that walking, biking and swimming are the three best exercises you can do to lose weight. To begin to achieve this state of mind you have to put in the mind and keep it there. The great thing is if you’re able to do this just for one day and you can stay in one day at a time, you’ll be a winner. The fact is true that if you say to yourself I have to live this healthy life style for the rest of my days it will never happen. But think you only have to do the exercise and diet plan for today and today only then you’ll be successful. We can do things for 24 hours that would horrify us if we think we have to do for the rest of our lives. You must change your thinking and set it in stone in the mind the foods that cause you problems. Begin to eat fresh foods with salad and vegetables. Use celery sticks as a filler in-between meals and do not let yourself get too hungry. It is why it is advisable to have small healthy snacks available. Do what exercise you can and join any of the clubs which promote Healthy Lifestyle.

When you begin to lose weight due to your diet plan and exercise routine you will get a new QUALITY OF LIFE. You will feel happier and more content in yourself and be enthusiastic to continue. You will begin to alleviate the pains in your joints by the loss of weight. You will experience significant improvements in physical exercise and also in your sexual life. That’s got to be worth continuing for the fact that you can get arousal and be able to perform. I will cover the subject of sex in another article. It is very important item for a lot of obese people. Do remember the greater the weight loss the better The Quality of Life.

Childhood Obesity has reached epidemic proportions around the world. It is no longer confined to the UK, USA, and some European countries. It is now shown around the world that Childhood Obesity has raised from 1 in 5 to 1 in 4. This childhood obesity information is staggering when you consider a small province in Ireland; the North of Ireland has 10,000 obese children. The rise in childhood obesity has been gathering speed at such an alarming rate that if it continues, no health service will be able to cope with the complications of childhood obesity. The childhood obesity information keeps on getting more facts each day on this growing menace of obesity to our society and way of life. One has to throw out the live and let live attitude. This menace of obesity has to be smashed and done very quickly by giving as much as possible childhood obesity information to parents, guardians and children institutes.

Children should have a healthy well balanced food regime that gives them the energy to grow and develop. The more they take in; in energy what ever is not used up is stored as Fat and the children will become overweight or obese. Been obese means you are carrying far too much weight. Obesity is caused by regularly eating fast food, high caloric drinks, it is in plain language eating and drinking more calories then the body needs. These fast foods and processed foods contain so much sugar and fat that if you’re not physically active you will become obese.

Once a child is overweight or obese, they are more likely to develop serious health problems which is not in any way good for the child and that obesity leads to life threatening circumstances such as heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea, liver disease, early puberty, eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia, asthma and shins infections and most evil of all cancer. Obese children sadly mature to be obese adults. In addition of alarm is the death rate which is on the rise for childhood obesity and adolescence obesity. No parent wants to stand at their son or daughter’s grave when there is a way to avoid this very sad situation. I am an avid fan for breastfeeding. It is one of the best ways to help your child to avoid obesity.

Childhood Obesity Information

There are many reasons and situations which cause childhood obesity. These include

[1] Eating a diet of too many high fat and sugary foods.
[2] Eating too much and too many times in the High ST fast food chain outlets.
[3] This is the physical inactivity not doing enough exercise.
[4] Spending too much time watching television, on the computer and playing consul games. Becoming the couch potato.
[5] This is as far as my research goes rare inherited obesity.
[6] Your obese so you lead by bad example. You share the same eating habits.
[7] Not been breastfed at birth.
[8] Snacking all the time.
[9] Stress at home or school.
[10] Emotional eating.
[11] Fear of child safety to go and play.
[12] Parents busy schedule.

Possibly you could add more to the list but I am hopeful it rings a bell with parents.

Take a situation which is one I find identity with your visiting a friend with school age children they come home from school very few schools have extra sports and physical instruction available anymore. Back to my story the children arrive home and what takes place an almighty row over what program they are going to watch on television or play on the computer. Answer’s itself.

The childhood obesity information I have laid out for you, I am hopeful you can benefit from it and help your children to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Wishing you all a healthy lifestyle and speak soon.

Being overweight is something we all detest. From crazy diets, to slimming centers, figure correction surgeries, hitting the gym, dance classes, yoga and what not have we tried to shed that extra fat. The Menace of Obesity is a little more than being fat. It is the accumulation of fat in the body to such an extent that it can cause some serious life threatening damages to your health.

Obesity is a condition which does not look so dangerous but it has the capacity to cause tremendous harm. The body fat may get distributed all over the body or get concentrated on the stomach, or hips and thighs. BMI or Body Mass Index is the scale used to measure how obese you are. Ideally your BMI should be 18 to 25, any rating more than this puts you in the obese category.

A number of factors are responsible behind your obesity. When you consume more calories than you burn, it gives a chance to the fat to accumulate around your body, making you obese. Genetics has also a hand or two behind obesity. It has been found after thorough research in the field that if one parent is overweight, the children are likely to be overweight or obese.

Over eating is another reason behind obesity. We often have dinner, or lunch, while watching TV, and we are so engrossed in it, we hardly realize that we are eating more than the regular portions. Irregular meals are another cause behind overeating and gaining weight. Lack of minimal physical activity is harmful when it comes to rapid weight gain. Too much consumption of alcohol is also a major cause behind weight gain. The menace of obesity has far reaching effects than we actually consider it to be. Over time, it could lead to serious heart diseases. Diabetes also can creep in your system for you being overweight. Thyroid conditions have a direct relation to obesity. 2 types of thyroids are found; one that makes one lose weight rapidly while the other one makes one gain more weight over time, thereby worsening the heart functions.

Other problems include, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), leading to infertility in women and insulin resistance. Metabolic syndrome is another common menace of obesity. This includes a cluster of health problems like hypertension, high blood sugar, and abnormal lipid levels in the body. This raises the risk of a stroke, heart attack, kidney failure. Excess fat in the body helps the ‘bad cholesterol’ to strengthen its hold on the heart, which is a perfect recipe for heart diseases.

Obesity as we all know is the accumulation and deposition of extra fat in human body. This can result in an individual being overweight. The causes for obesity mostly indicate an unhealthy life style which includes eating the wrong kind of food, inactivity, laziness and no exercise. Because of this a multiple health problems can arise which may have both short term and long term effects on an individual. People of all age groups and gender are affected by this phenomenon. But among all it’s the kids who have to suffer the greatest consequences of this disease. That is because they have the whole life left to be lived and the extra weight turns out be a burden or liability for a child obese. Often this leads to large psychological effects on a child suffering from obesity.

These psychological problems arise when a child realizes that he is different from many of the children who are around him. This often raises complex thoughts within a child’s mind. This is of course a very adverse situation mentally for a child to be in. He realizes that he is being looked down upon, by the whole world for being “fat”. He feels helpless and frustrated. Being a child he often cannot express himself or herself that well. It’s important that a child is helped and guided by his or her family and friends properly. Often the psychological consequence of child obesity among child is stereotype.

Being a child obese automatically means that the child is unhealthy. That is because if he has had a proper healthy life he would not have landed as the fat boy or girl. This fat boy or girl tag creates a deep impact on the child’s life. A child obese is generally lazy and has a very low concentration level which of course affects the work he or she does. This often results in low academic results, which in turn act as a psychosocial burden for the child. Again this raises the stress level which is never wished for.

Social burdens for any child obese are simply huge. Literally everyone seems to have something to say about a child abuse. The ill-comments the laughs the back biting tends to have a huge affect on a child obese mind. This leads to the child lacking interest in going out anywhere. Even not to school and near by park. This again adds to the inactivity of the child which is something not recommended to any obesity patient.

It is often observed that child obese as young as Five tend to develop a negative self-image. This in turn results in poor degree of self-esteem. This can lead to emotional drawbacks and affect an child obese life mentally.

I belong to one of the most influential families in the film industry. Since last three decades my family has been working in films, not to mention my childhood was mainly spent on the floors of many film shooting. With all the glitz and glamour around me even I wanted to act in films. Were the beautiful gowns, romance handsome actors, visit exotic locations etc. But most of my friends would laugh at me, and even my father thought that I could only make up a comedian, all this because I was 95kgs. Obesity ran in my family.

All my uncles, grand parents and even my own father acted as heroes in numerous films, but the only problem was as they started to age they started putting on wait, no control over diet at all. But that never stopped them to act as they did characters that suited their shape. But I did not want to be a comedian; I wanted to be a mainstream actress.

My obesity left me with a terrible life, I was ort just 95kgs but had also acquired several other health problems which is so common to obesity. I had a bulging tummy, loose muscles, and bad skin because of the unhealthy diet I followed. I had also acquired chronic asthma, because of my over weight. One day secretly I shared my dream of becoming an actress with my mother, surprisingly she was very happy and asked me to dedicate one year of my life in shaping up and then no body could keep me away from stardom.

Since it had to be kept a secret my mother did not enroll me to any gym or yoga class, all I did was search for weight loss technique in several e-books available on the internet and also the right diet to loose weight. I down loaded several yoga postures and exercises that were recommended by several noted masters in the e-books and also took a little help from my mother who herself is a yoga expert. Since I was to heavy weight, therefore even a little cheat on my diet or exercise routine could cost me a lot.

I religiously started following the exercises and practicing the yoga, my diet was also quite strict, and for a year I hadn’t tasted ice cream or chocolate without which living even a day was impossible. I guess the love and passion that I had for my career, must have been more than the love that I shared for sweets. Proper exercises and diet had also brought another miracle to my life. The asthma problem that I had because of obesity was absolutely cured, doctors say that it happens one in every thousands, I guess I was the lucky few, miracles do happen!

After a year I had fully transformed, my body and my skin looked amazing. Now even my father believed that I could be a super star; and obesity, it seems history now; the 95kgs girl has disappeared in thin air. Today I will walk the red carpet for my first film and I have also got a place for my self among the top ten beautiful women of the world.

You must have heard that people start eating more when they are in depression or had a breakup. Surprisingly, the person who suffers from binge eating disorder sometimes also consumes more than thousands of calories. In the recent years, the binge eating disorder patients have increased as stress is more in today’s competitive life which eventually leads to depression.

Binge eating disorder doesn’t only stop in obesity but will gradually lead to many health problems such as heart disease, diabetes and blood pressure problems.

Obesity is one of the greatest health menaces found in the entire world today. Anyone who is overweight should be alert right from beginning. You would feel amazed to know that you can reduce weight comparatively in an easy and safe manner when you are overweight. On the other hand, losing weight can become a real trouble when you are obese. Your objective should be taking care of your health right from the time you find yourself overweight.

Did you know why people often fail to reduce weight successfully? Reducing weight is little bit difficult and many people give away in the half way while fighting against obesity. Lack of commitment and dedication often comes in the way of working out hard to achieve this purpose. However, just exercising may not help you attaining your goal. You need to undertake some additional tasks as well for flaunting that well-toned body for which you have been craving for long.

Anyone suggesting you the ways you should undertake while fighting against obesity, must explain you how exercising is important for reducing the extra fat. May be you feel exhausted for the first few days when you work out, but you should not ever give up. Your consistent effort must bring colors of fruit very soon. You may get ideas on work out for obesity from various resources. You can buy a DVD or a magazine for this purpose. You can follow the online weight reduction programs as well. In short, there are innumerable ways you can fight against fat. You just need to be positive enough for delivering your best effort for bringing back into shape.

Another very important aspect for curtailing extra weight is to maintain a low fat diet. Many obese people try to slash their food intake abruptly. This does not come to any use particularly. Such people who bend on crush diet often end up eating lots of foods when they are no more able to starve. Believe me, starvation is not a way out of weight reduction. Alternatively, you should maintain a healthy and balanced diet.

You should take care so that your regular food items include a lot of fresh vegetables. You should not quit fat and carbohydrate completely but you can reduce the amount of these foodstuffs. Try to incorporate all food ingredients into your diet. Make sure that you are consuming all vitamins, minerals, proteins, fat and carbohydrate in balanced amounts. If you do not know what the exact amount should be, you must confer with a nutritionist who can guide you well in this direction. Lastly but most importantly, drink plenty of water every day. Water does not only act as an outstanding anti-oxidant but also it is fantastic detoxifier besides helping you digesting foods fast.

Obesity is more serious trouble than we give it credit for. It is one of the main reasons of why the majority population of the world is deemed unhealthy. Our bodies need nutrition and so we have to eat. But we have to realize that when we over eat, our bodies take in more calories, which if not burned, will accumulate as body fat. When we over eat, we gain weight. When we gain weight, we become obese.

It is considered to be a chronic disease like diabetes or high blood pressure. Consuming more calories than we can burn is what causes obesity. Studies have shown that 1 out of every 5 kid is obese. You would be called obese if your Body Mass Index (BMI) is greater than 30. Obesity has sadly become an epidemic in most of the developed countries of the world. Food is in abundant supply but physical activity is minimal.

Billions of dollars are spent on diet pills, diet books, figure correction surgery and the like and even more dollars are spent for treating the diseases which are related to obesity. Excess amount of body fat that gets accumulated when we gain more calories and burn less, it augments other diseases. Heart disease, type 2 diabetes, breathing difficulties, certain types of cancer and even osteoarthritis are some of the adverse effects of obesity. Who would have thought that an apparently simple issue like obesity could give rise to such life threatening diseases?

There are a number of factors which can be identified as the causes behind obesity. Age is one of those factors. With age, the metabolism rate of the body slows down; it takes more time to metabolize the food. Eating the same food, doing the same activities will now add to your weight which was not the case when you were 20. Gender is another factor behind obesity. Women have been found to gain more weight than men as their post menopausal metabolic rate decreases with time. Obesity has often been found to be in genes.

If you are physically active, obesity is not likely to affect you. Psychological factors also play a role in this regard. We often tend to eat in response to negative emotions like sadness, anxiety, and boredom. Binge eating is the reason behind weight gain in many people, this does not make person realize to what excess he or she is eating. Illness and medication also has been found to be the reason behind obesity. Many medications as a side effect causes weight gain which can only be helped if you are following a proper diet or healthy lifestyle.

Obesity is one of the many dangerous trends catching on. It’s not just people calling you fat and not being able to fit in your jeans you should be worried about. It is the related and subsequent dangers you are becoming vulnerable to.
